跨学科的倡议

Interdisciplinary education in the United States can t比赛 its genesis from the early pragmatists, 一群影响深远的思想家和活动家,不仅包括约翰·杜威, 还有简·亚当斯和W.E.B. 杜波依斯. 在一起, 他们影响了一系列关于知识的思想和实践, 而不是作为商品, 而是作为传统观念的交织, 个人经验, 倾向于理解的想象力, 以及让世界变得更人道的意愿. Interdisciplinary education thus seeks to promote a different way of learning that allows for learning to make a difference.

Interdisciplinary learning fosters higher-order cognition and cultivates critical thinking skills by compelling students to transcend the 艺术ificial boundaries that traditionally divide academic disciplines. The rewards of interdisciplinary studies are further enhanced through student-centered education that promotes both individual initiative and group collaboration.

The Interdisciplinary Program encourages student-centered interdisciplinary education by offering recognition to students in good academic standing who p艺术icipate in specifically designated courses of study characterized by academic rigor, 协作式教学和学习方式, 精心整合的课程. 荣誉课程和AP课程也是如此, the 大学咨询 Office highlights a student’s p艺术icipation in the interdisciplinary studies program during the college application process.
